Privacy policy

Best Western Italia s.c.p.a., Best Western International and their associated companies (collectively "BWI") are committed to adopting measures to ensure that your privacy is respected and protected. This privacy policy defines the measures adopted by BWI with regard to how your personal data are used, protected and disclosed to third parties.
Specifically, BWI agrees to comply with all rules on privacy, including the EC Directive on Data Protection, commonly known as the "Data Protection Directive", and the Canadian Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act ("PIPEDA"), as well as all rules applicable to data privacy.
BWI has chosen to comply with numerous international rules and regulations by adhering to the US Department of Commerce's "Safe Harbor" programme. The implementation of Safe Harbor requirements at BWI meets the requirements of PIPEDA and the Data Protection Directive. BWI's privacy policy is based on certain principles contained in the Safe Harbor programme, in harmony with the Data Protection Directive and PIPEDA: Notice, Choice, Onward transfer, Security, Data integrity, Access and Enforcement. Further details about how BWI adheres to these privacy principles are given below.

Best Western Italia s.c.p.a. stipulates, pursuant to Art. 13 of Legislative Decree no. 196 of 30.6.2003, that:

  - when joining the Best Western Rewards loyalty scheme (formerly Gold Crown Club International)
  - when making a hotel booking
- Failure to consent to the processing of data for these specific purposes therefore prevents:
  - customers from enrolling in the Best Western Rewards scheme (hereinafter "Loyalty"); the Best Western Rewards scheme is an international programme that enables Partners to enjoy benefits in the various participating countries. It is therefore necessary that consent to the processing of Data can be extended to Best Western International Inc., its affiliates ("BWI Affiliates") and its Commercial Partners.
  - . Best Western hotels from providing the hotel service; in particular, for booking purposes, Data will need to be transferred to the individual hotels concerned, which operate independently and in accordance with current privacy rules.
- May be used, subject to your consent, in order to forward - by email, letter, telephone, advertising material, etc. - information of a technical/general nature and of a commercial/promotional nature with respect to Best Western Italia products and services; for this specific purpose, the transfer of data and consent to the processing are free and optional.
- May be used, subject to your consent, for commercial/promotional purposes with respect to third party products and services; for this specific purpose, the transfer of data and consent to the processing are free and optional.
Some BWI Affiliates and Commercial Partners are based in countries outside of Italy. If it becomes necessary to disclose personal data to any company belonging to such category, at least one of the following conditions must exist: (1) the company is based in a European Union country or (2) such disclosure takes place in full compliance with the privacy laws adopted locally in the country where the above company is based and conforming to the principles laid down by the European Commission.

Data processing requires the use of manual, computer and electronic tools by Best Western Italia.
Processing shall in all cases be done for reasons strictly related to and not exceeding the purposes indicated above and in such a way as to guarantee the security and confidentiality of the Data, which shall also be managed and protected in environments to which access is under constant monitoring.

With regard to the processing of your Data, pursuant to Art. 7 of Legislative Decree no. 196/2003, you are entitled to obtain from Best Western Italia:
- confirmation as to whether or not Data relating to you are being processed, communication of the latter in an intelligible form, knowledge of their source, the purposes of the processing, as well as the logic applied
- the erasure or anonymisation of your Data;
- the updating, rectification or, if there is an interest in so doing, the supplementing of your Data.

Tracking systems on our sites

As a rule, BWI uses these systems to keep track of the progress of your current booking, to keep track of your status in relation to promotions, competitions and prize draws and/or to analyse your visiting habits.
