Lagonegro (PZ): medieval village situated on a hill in a panoramic position on Mt. Sirino. Close to the ruins of the feudal castle is situated the church of St. Nicholas of Bari where, according to the legend, Monna Lisa is buried. Lago Piccolo di Monticchio (Small Lake of Monticchio) (PZ): lake of volcanic origin, in the Rionero area in Vulture, whose waters are populated by water lilies and surrounded by a dense wood. Metaponto (MT): archeological area with the remains of the ancient Greek city, including the temple of Apollo, dating back to the seventh century BC. and the ruins of Palatine Pables. Melfi (PZ): a medieval city standing on the volcanic area on the northern slopes of Mt. Vulture. Today the castle houses the Melfese National Museum. Other villages: Atella, Bernalda, Policoro, Rionero, Tricarico, Venosa. |
